I suck at being sick! I’m not sure if it’s something you can be good at, but I tend to feel very sorry for myself and focus on how poorly I’m feeling. Not sure if others have some kind of “being-sick-hack”, but if so, please do share. I get so impatient and just want to recover asap rather than appreciating the “time out”. I’m all recovered now after a few days of rest, and I’m celebrating with the rain dance. Can you imagine my delight when I discovered the adjustable thermostat in my apartment – after five months of warmish showers?! I finally had a proper hot shower today. And it’s so bloody good (as Teona says)!
There’s been a lot of bloody goodness in my life lately. I feel like Tbilisi is really becoming my home; when the lady at my fruit shop tells me she’s been saving a bucket of fresh raspberries for me, when my laundry rack gets smashed up by the strong wind and I know exactly where to buy a new one, when friends gather for a cozy home cooked dinner at my place, when I don’t get lost any more – that’s when I know that this is becoming home.
My heart is tickling with joy (not sure if that’s an acceptable expression but I like it). After a stretch of feeling lonely I’m making new friends and connecting with people. I love that I’ve made new Georgian friends who’ve shared music, art and toasts with me (amazing how the universe had us literally cross paths in the mountains). I love that so many of my colleagues have become friends (“Hey Jess, where are ya whatcha doing?” on a Saturday night is music to my ears), and we look out for each other (I’ve never had so many colleagues check up on me when I was sick). I love having had friends from afar visit to share Tbilisi and the Georgian mountains with them. So here’s a toast to old friends and to new friends!
And finally my love-cup is running over from feeling so proud of my kiddos back home. Can’t wait for them to come to Tbilisi for Christmas to enjoy all the goodness here. They’ve tasked me with finding out about the music scene, and “believe you me” (like Nika says), I bloody will. We will find the best music in the best town. And it’s going to be bloody good!
